LIBERTY SQUARE

          Haunted Mansion

haunted house tall rect.jpg (7595 bytes)The Haunted Mansion is Disney’s tribute to the macabre. The ride is possessed by lots of spooky sounds, eerie illusions and plenty of ghosts, but don’t worry – the spirits are noisy rather than evil. Most children should be able to handle the scares that take the form of such things as moving tombstones, a suit of armor that comes to life and a chilling gust of cold, damp air. There are moments of extreme darkness, but Disney saw fit to exclude the dripping blood and gore. Some of the illusions involved in the ride are quite good, but the best is saved for last as all visitors manage to pick up a ghostly stowaway

          Hall of Presidents

This attraction has become overshadowed by Epcot’s American Adventure, but is still an educational and worthwhile event. The attraction is broken into two parts; the first is a film narrated by Maya Angelou about the creation and significance of the Constitution and the current state of democracy.

The second part of the presentation is a roll call of all 42 American Presidents. Robotic replicas of the presidents stand at their name and give the audience a nod or wave.

Several Presidents including President Clinton have small speaking parts (he did his part personally). Disney does a terrific job of making history literally come to life and the air-conditioning is turned up high, making the Hall of Presidents a great attraction to see in the mid-afternoon
